Midwife

If you want to work as a midwife in Denmark, you must apply for Danish registration.

Authorization Process

The authorization process and the required documentation depend on the country of your nationality and the country where you obtained your qualification as a midwife.

For midwives from EU/EAA or Switzerland, specific procedures apply. Midwives from countries outside the EU/EEA or in Switzerland have their own set of procedures.

Stay updated

Until you receive Danish authorization as a midwife, it is your responsibility to stay informed about any changes to the authorization proces and deadlines.

Communication

As stated in the Danish Authorization Act, midwives are required to practice their profession with care and conscientiousness. This also includes maintaining sound communication with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals. The relevant authority evaluates whether the midwife meets the criteria outlined in the Danish Authorization Act.

The 75-Year Rule

The entitlement to practice as a midwife expires at the age of 75.
